NBA 1950S

The 50s was a different time, but a revolutionary time which changed the NBA entirely
Color Barrier Broken
The 50s is when the color barrier was broken when Earl Lloyd, Chuck Cooper, and Nat Cilfton were drafted into the NBA. Most people would not even know the names of these pioneers, who paved the way for players such as Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson, Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan. Lloyd is the only one of the threesome that is still alive. In his words, "If adversity doesn't kill you, it makes you a better person." At that time Jackie Robinson in 1947 was the only African American playing professional baseball. With Lloyd, Cilfton, and Cooper playing at the same time they didn't have to carry the burden alone unlike Robinson. In one of Lloyd’s games that he had won his game and as he would leave fans would spit on him. Lloyd would be turned away by diners and would eating alone by himself in his room at the hotel and his coach Horace McKinney would join Lloyd for dinner to support him. His coach didn't have to do that, but those are the things people don't forget.  Lloyd won his first championship with The Syracuse Nationals and retired at the age of 32 with a career average of 8ppg and 6rbg.  Cilfton averaged 10ppg and 8rpg and made it on the 1956 All-Star team in the NBA after a brief stint in the Army.
Pettit’s Revenge
In the early years of the NBA the Boston Celtics and the St. Louis Hawks had one of the best rivalry. The Hawks met the Celtics 4 time out of the five years beginning with the 1956-57 season. That season, the Celtics had won their first championship with a score of 125-123 in double-overtime of Game 7. The next season the Hawks came back with a vendetta to beat the Celtics. This time they stunned the Celtics by beating the Celtics 104-102 at the Boston Garden. The Celtics came back to win Game 2, but in Game 3 Bill Russell sprained his ankle which would hurt his team. They both spilt Games 3 and 4 bringing it back to St. Louis for the victory. In Game 6 Pettit had his best game with 50 points, which the Hawks win their first championship.
Celtics Legacy beginning
The 50s were a different time compared to today’s NBA standards. In the 50s there were no shot clocks and not a lot of athleticism. However, what made the game even more different was with no shot clock when the opposing team got the lead, then they did not have to score anymore and just played keep away with the ball. The game became boring for the paying fans. Pretty soon teams would start fouling each other so they could get back into the game and try to get the lead. This made games into a free throw shot out. In the 1953 Playoffs, the Boston Celtics and the Syracuse Nationals squared off and went into quadruple overtime and ended with a score of 111-105. Boston won the series. The famous Bob Cousy set an NBA record of 32 attempted free throws and made 30 of them and he also had 50 points that game. Celtics coach Red Auerbach told his team to give the ball to Cousy so that he would get fouled, which helped them win their first of many championships to come.

An Unlikely Hero WINS the Game?

This video will blow your mind away when you see that the most unlikely person would win this basketball game.

Now that you have fully watched this video your mind must be blown to see that a kid faced with the odds against him would rise to success and win his basketball game with 20 points, making 6 three point shots. Jason was born with autism, and he is now the manager of his school's basketball team. He is not afraid to show his emotions during the games and for the last game of the season his coach let him suit up for the game just to see what it would feel like, but it did not pan out that way. In the last four minutes the coach puts Jason in the game, in the beginning he missed a few shots but once he made the first three he caught fire. Making 6 three pointers the crowd was going crazy insane. These games are one of a kind because no knew that Jason was going to go off like that making this night the best of his life. Even though he has felt different from everyone his whole life and has been faced these odds he made it into one of the greatest moments in basketball history.

Who will go to the Final Four?

College Basketball season is about to start people and most of us want to know "who do you think will get to the Final Four?"

University of Connecticut
University of Connecticut men's basketball team just won the 2010-2011 NCAA championship, and they have another chance to win it again with Kemba Walker-less team. Kemba Walker pushed his team to win the NCAA and now without him you would think the team would be done right? Wrong! This year UConn got the number freshmen in the nation with Andre Drummond. This 6'10 and 265 center is a beast on the court with comparisons to Amare Stoudemire he will mostly likely dominate college basketball. UConn also has sharp shooter Jeremy Lamb returning, with his skills he will lead his team with the experience he gain from last year.

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
My top pick to win it all this year is UNC because this roster has elite players at every position making them the most lethal team. With returning players Harrison Barnes, Tyler Zeller, and John Henson UNC will have a lot of go to players. With Reggie Bullock and Kendall Marshal they will also have more scoring and leadership on the team. Last year when Kendall Marshall did well Harrison Barnes did great. With incoming freshmen PJ Hairston and James McAdoo UNC will have great talent coming off the bench.

Kentucky

John Callipari has yet again recruit another amazing freshmen class with four McDonalds All Americans. This team will be lead by the in shape Terrence Jones, who made it to the Final Four last year. Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will be long athletic power forwards who will be threats at both ends of the court. With point guard Marquis Teague he will follow a long history of talent point guards under Coach Callipari. This year will be a different year with returning player, Terrence Jones, with his experience and talent surely he will lead his team to va NCAA championship.
Ohio State University
When Freshmen of the Year, Jared Sullinger, returned to college hoops rather than going pro he made it priority to win a National Championship. With William Buford, Aaron Craft, and Deshuan Thomas  this team will have a core group to become contenders. With Sullinger's workouts this summer he has become leaner and more powerful, but now he will have more of a perimeter game this year rather than relying on just the post.

LBL Really?

Wow, I have heard of Lingerie Football League, but now a Lingerie Basketball League sounds a little ridiculous. I feel like LBL is good for a little summer league, but that's it. The way this league is based on is sexual appeal and some elite basketball. Between the WNBA and the LBL the LBL wins out in the sexual appeal, but the WNBA has the better basketball. However I feel the LBL kinda over does it with the sexual appeal factor in that these women are playing half naked in underwear with some lace going down their leg. Now these women are gorgeous; however, I feel like these women are not playing for the love of the game, but to be an object to attract dozens of men to them. However, I could be wrong because from some of the video footage it showed that these girls play hard, but some get a little overly aggressive. At on point you will see a player get pushed down even when she was doing nothing. That aggressiveness is just to get men riled up and get them more anxious to see if they players will break out in a hot fight. Overall I think that it is a great marketing strategy to appeal more to the male fan base in trying to get more men to watch women's basketball, but it is mostly likely the the LBL is just for men to watch sexy women play around for their pleasure. The LBL will never out do the WNBA. Here's a little snipped of the LBL...

NBA LOCKOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The NBA is on day 114 of this lockout and it doesn't look like it's going to end anytime soon. Out of the 30 teams about 22 of them are losing money, which is a cause for concern. Due to this Recession people have been losing a lot of money making it harder for most NBA teams to sell there expensive tickets to the general public. Who would want to go to an NBA game with a $50 ticket and sit all the at the top of the arena and barely see the game? No one! So these small market teams like the Charlotte Bobcats and the Minnesota Timberwolves have lost a lot of revenue due to the fact that their general fan base do not feel the need to buy a ticket and the fact that some of these teams do not have a star player like the Los Angles Lakers and the Oklahoma City Thunder. What we should do is take all the revenues that the teams make and split it even across the league so that everyone will be stable. The main reason why the Owners and Players are at a disagreement is because while the owners are loosing money they are having to spend more and more money bringing these players to their team for a $100 million contract, which is ridiculous.   I also agree with the rumor going around that owners are trying to implement the 'Carmelo Anthony Rule' where it makes it harder for a star players to leave their team. I feel that star players need to stick with their team and not demand to be traded to another team like Carmelo Anthony did. Players like Michael Jordan and Larry Bird are one of the few players who have stuck with their teams and made a legacy out of it which helped keep the fans interested in the NBA. With a player like Carmelo Anthony, who brought clutch game winning shots, leaving his team for the New York Knicks brought disaster to the Denver Nuggets. Now without their star player fans are less likely to come to the games, which causes the Denver Nuggets to lose revenue. One perfect example of a great player leaving his team is Lebron James. He was the most electrifying player to ever play in Cleveland let alone in the NBA. Some compared him to Michael Jordan, but now that he has left Cleveland Cavaliers he has caused  a huge rift in the NBA. The Cavs not only experienced one of the worst losing streaks in sports history, but with Lebron gone they lost a lot of fans, which caused a lot of local businesses to suffer with no fans to cater to. People hated Lebron now, every where he goes he is always yelled at by angry fans.
Overall due to this Lockout the first two weeks of the NBA are canceled. Even when the lockout is over it will take a month to get the league going. It will take two weeks to gets teams going, one week to deal with trading players, and another week for training camp. If the league stays the way it has been then teams like the Wizards and the Timberwolves will not make it and owners will continue to loose more and more money. Currently the owners and players are meeting with a mediator so hopefully things will get situated soon. This will be a long process!

Minnesota Lynx 2011 WNBA Champions!

This is a great day for Minnesota because not only did the Lynx win Rookie of the Year with Maya Moore and coach of the year with Sheryl Reeve, but the have now won the franchise's first WNBA championship
The Lynx swept the Atlanta Dream 3-0, and the final score of Game 3 Lynx 73-67. This was the dessert that the Lynx were looking for to top off this great season. Seimone Augustus was named WNBA Finals MVP after having three great games. Game 2 of the series was her breaakout game where she score 36 points, only 2 behind Angel McCoughtry, Game 3 she scored a team high 16 points along with Maya Moore's 15 points. I knew from the start that this team would be one to reckon with. Rookie Maya Moore has won 2 NCAA championships, 90 consecutive game winning streak (longest in basketball history since John Wooden's UCLA's 88 game winning streak), and is the most decorative basketball player ever, with her experience she made a huge impact with her work ethic. However, Maya was the only who made a huge impact. Seimone, Lindsay Whalen, Rebekkah Brunson and Taj McWilliams-Franklin all made huge impacts with all of their experience. Seimone's constant attacking the rim made the Lynx a threat on the offense. Lindsay's leadership with the ball made it easier for everyone to score. Taj's and Rebekkah's experience with winning championship also was key for the veteran experience factor. Overall the energy of the bench is what also helped when the starters needed a break. The bench players averaged roughly 17ppg during the playoffs, which outmatched any other team in the playoffs. CONGRATS MINNESOTA LYNX ON BEING THE 2011 WNBA CHAMPS!

Determination

Taylor Statham was a regular kid in high school pursing his dreams of playing Division 1 basketball on scholarship, but one day in a game he decided to take his coach's advice and take the charge in the game rather than block the opposing player. Taylor took a knee to the groin and was taken to the hospital to get it checked out to see if he had any injuries after the fact. It turned out after the X-ray showed that he had testicular cancer!!! If he had waited a couple months the cancer would have spread throughout his whole body eventually killing him. Now Taylor had to go through the ultimate test of strength, chemotherapy. Chemotherapy will break even the strongest of people and make them want to give up the fight on cancer; however, it was his determination to get back to basketball is what got him through it. There were some days like when he lost his hair in the shower due to the chemotherapy that he would break down a feel like giving up, but he didn't and finally got cleared of cancer in April of last year. The worst part of it all was when he called a coach that he was being recruited by and the coach says, 'I heard that all of your hair fell out, and now you are not playing basketball anymore'. For a coach to say something like that to a player that has gone through two six week chemo session is very inconsiderate.

However, this made Taylor even more determined to get back to the game he loved. He had lost a good 25 pounds since cancer, and in his last game of his high school career he managed to score 25 points. In the end he was able to score a tryout with California Baptist University, a Division two basketball school. With his skill and hard work he was able to get a scholarship. Hopefully one day Taylor will fulfill his dream of playing pro basketball overseas, but whatever he does he will always give a hundred and ten percent.

WNBA Finals Here!

After 4 months of basketball the WNBA Championship Finals is here. With the Atlanta Dream going against the Minnesota Lynx.
The Lynx went 2-1 with the Silver Stars, 2-0 with the Phoenix Mercury, and now they are 1-0 with the Atlanta Dream. From the start of the season I knew that the Lynx were going to win it all. With players like Seimone Augustus, Lindsay Whalen, Rebekkah Bruson, Maya Moore, and Taj McWilliams-Franklin, who didn't think that the Lynx would win it all. With Maya Moore on the team it brought a winning mentality from day 1, and it has stuck with them all the way through. Siemone's scoring ability is amazing combined with Lindsay Whalen being the top point guard in the league and Rebekkah Bruson being one of the top rebounders this team had it solidified at being one of the toughest teams to beat. However, I would not doubt the Atlanta Dream coming back with a surprise win over the Lynx. Angel McCoughtry is the most unstoppable player in this league. She reminds me a little of Magic Johnson in that they both have two personalities when it comes to basketball. When Earvin Magic Johnson was on the court he became the fierce competitor Magic, but off the court he was known as Earvin. Angel McCoughtry on the courts is known as the hard playing of Lori Ann, but off the courts she is same old Angel. Angel had a great game of 33 points, but she needs to get her team involved because when she stops making shots then her teammates need to start making them, which is the reason why the lost in the first game. The Lynx's 11 blocks were also another reason why the Dream lost. This was a great night for Minnesota sports having a little over 15,000 fans in attendance is the second highest in franchise history. My future predictions will be that Minnesota will go 3-1 and win the championship because there is no way to beat a team as solid as that.

A Big night in deed!

Tamika Catchings was named 2011 WNBA MVP

Tamika Catchings was named MVP of the WNBA, after 10 season consistent hard-work Tamika you well earned this award.

Tamika Catchings is the only WNBA player in history to have reached 5,000 points, 2,000 rebounds, and 1000 assists. She is also the only player in WNBA history to be defensive player of the year 4 times. Tamika may not score the most points in the league or get the most rebounds in the league, but she does something more than that. She averaged 15.5 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 3.5 apg, and 2 spg. Overall she does everything on the court at a 110% all the time.
At a young age Tamika was born with a speech impairment and lost most of her hearing in both ear. Growing up as a child she had to wear hearing aids, which most of the kids at school would make fun of her because of it. Being different at a young age is always hard because you always want to be the same as everyone else; however, her impairment actually made her work even harder at school from being in the front desk in class to reading ahead so that she knew what the class was talking about that day to staying after class and talking to the teacher to see if she missed anything. As Tamika got older she became great at basketball and play college basketball at the University on Tennessee with Pat Summit. One day in the weight room Pat told Tamika that she needed to go back to wearing hearing aids and working with the university speech therapist so that she can reach her goals. Now a days she has hearing aids to wear in the game, but she really prefers not to wear them because she feels it makes her more aware of her surroundings. Through her diversity she became a role model for all children who are hearing impaired.
Tamika has also been awarded: Rookie  of the Year, member of the All-Decade team, member of the Top 15 Team, Olympic Gold medalist (2004, 2008), 7 time WNBA All-Star Player, 4 time Defensive Player, and the Kim Perrot Sportsmanship Award. But out of all of her awards what she wants the most is a WNBA championship. It’s great having a ton of awards, but nothing beats having a WNBA championship like all the other greats. Tamika you have deserved this award for some many year, and I am happy to say that you are now a WNBA MVP.

2012 mock draft

2012's draft will definitely be loaded unlike the 2011 draft. This year's draft had a lot more foreign talent rather than US talent, and the fear of the NBA lockout made a lot of players want to stay in school which I think is a great idea. With another year of school for these players will make them better. So these are my top 5 draft picks for the 2012 draft:

                                                                      At number 1

Andre Drummond is a monster on the court for being only 18 years old. Some compare him to Dwight Howard and Amare Stoudemire. Andre makes a lot of his points in the post, but he is now creating his own offense. This kid is a monster it is unbelievable how talented he is at a young age. Hopefully he will keep working harder every day rather tha relying on just his talents. Take a look for yourself at how good he is.

                                                                       At number 2
Harrison Barnes was to most hyped player of 2011, but was a little inconsistent his freshmen year. But he had some big highlights, like his 40 point game in the NCAA. Overall he has a strong body with great muscle tone and doesn't show any bad body language when he is tired. His shot is great, but still developing. Overall he is a great player on both sides of the court and still has a lot more potential.

At number 3
Jared Sullinger was Freshmen of the Year for college basketball.  His persistences was amazing throughout his freshmen season. At 6'10 and weighing 280lbs, he was a solid post player averaging 17ppg and 10rpg, and he led Ohio State to the NCAA. His size crushed his opponents in the post making him unstoppable. This summer he worked a lot harder to lose some weight making him quicker and more versatile. Hopefully this season we will see him win an NCAA championship.

At number 4
James Mcadoo, incoming UNC freshmen, is 6'9 and 226lbs. He has a good fame work and is deadly in the post making quick, swift decisions. His Uncle was Bob Mcadoo, former NBA star, who won 2 championships and averaged 22.1ppg and 9rpg over his 14 year career.  Look at how skilled this kid is!

                                                                      At number 5
Marquis Teague will be the number one point guard in his class. His speed and quick thinking makes him a deadly passer and scorer. His older brother, Jeff Teague, who exploded in the playoffs with the Atlanta Hawks, says that his younger brother, Marquis, is a lot better skilled than he was at his age. Marquis will be another point guard product from John Callipari, who will be successful like John Callipari's other NBA point guards, like: John Wall, Brandon Knight, Tyreke Evans.

Rookie of the Year for the WNBA.....Maya Moore!

Maya Moore on September 16, 2011 won the Rookie of the Year award, another award for her huge trophy closet. Maya averaged 13.2 ppg, 28 mpg, 4.6 rpg, 2.7 apg and 1.4 spg over the entire season. She also lead all rookies in minutes, points, and steals. Out of a panel of 40 judges 38 of them voted her ass rookie of the year. Maya Moore is not new to getting awards, over her basketball career she has won awards for basketball than anyone else has. Just take a look at how many things she has achieved in her basketball career that not many basketball players (men's or women's) have achieved (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_Moore#Awards_and_honors).  Hopefully tonight when the Lynx take on the Silver Stars for the last spot in the Western Finals Maya Moore will help lead her team to victory.

ACC strong once again!

Pittsburg and Syracuse trying to join the ACC? Oh yea!
Pittsburg and Syracuse have been accepted as members of the ACC. Not only will this help with football, but it will also help with the depth of basketball in the ACC. Last week I read an article talking about how the ACC has lost its depth, and that only UNC and Duke are the only real talented teams in the ACC. However, now with Syracuse and Pittsburg (who are both top 25 teams) the ACC will have life once again, not saying it ever left just now it will be even bigger. There is also a rumor that two other schools may bring their programs to the ACC. Who could they be? University of Connecticut and Rutgers possibly. University of Connecticut would be another title contending basketball team that would also make the ACC even better. These changes will not happen until 2014, but when they do it will be a great year in basketball for the ACC.

Tribute to Tayshana Murphy (aka Chicken)

Tayshana Murphy, or as her friends call her Chicken, was shot in the head at the hallway of her home in the Harlem MorningSide Projects. Tayshana was ranked 16th at the point guard position in the nation, and she was planning on playing basketball at the University of Miami and one day go pro. She wanted to go pro so that she could make money to take her family out of the projects. She would have been the first in her family to graduate high school and go to college. Basketball meant everything to this girl. She would be the only girl playing against a bunch of dudes for hours and hours holding her own against them. Her tenacity was unparalleled even when she torn her ACL and missed her junior season. She was more determined than ever to get back to playing the sport she loved. Unfortunately, the reason why she was shot was because of mistaken identity! Some believe that it was due to the feud between the two projects and she looked like one of the guys caught in the feud. The violence needs to stop!! Tayshana's life was cut short because of some stupid argument and now her family is in great pain because of it. Violence will only lead to pain and sorrow.
RIP Tayshana Murphy (aka Chicken)

WNBA Scores for 9/11/11

9/11/01 a day to remember for the people who lost their lives

New York Liberty 63, Connecticut Suns 69
Today the New York Liberty took on the Connecticut Suns. The final score NYL 63 Conn 69. Tina Charles led the Suns with 18 points and 11 rebounds securing the 2nd seed in the playoffs and setting a new double-double record of 23, which she also set that record last season as a rookie. Tina Charles is one of the most aggressive centers in this league today. In her 2nd season she will be one the best centers all time and hopefully this year she might win the regular season MVP. On another note Cappie Pondexter unfortunately went 5-21 from the field goal and wound up on having 12 points. I love Cappie and her ability to make her own shot with her little MJ step back, but she needs to facilitate more if she is having an off shooting night.

Atlanta Dream 93, Indiana Fever 88
Angel McCoughtry had a great game with 32 points leading Atlanta to secure the number 3 seed in the playoffs. Katie Douglas lead the Fever with 30 points (without Tamika Catchings) in the lost. These two teams have MVP candidates  with Tamika Catchings and Angel McCoughtry. Angel is an incredible player with tremendous talent, but the key to her success is how she is always relentless and never gives up. On the other side, Tamika Catchings is an all around great player in every category even Larry Bird believes that she should be the MVP. In my opinion I want Tamika to win the MVP because she has put up the same kind of numbers every year and never gets noticed. Angel is young and will hopefully win the championship this year, unlike last year when the Seattle Storm beat Atlanta for the championship.

Minnesota Lynx 96, Phoenix Mercury 90
It was not the Mercury's night tonight, Diana Taurasi lead her team with 19 points, but it was not enough to stop the Lynx. The Lynx has really come together because Monica Wright, Maya Moore, and Seimone Augustus all lead the Lynx with 15 points. I feel that all players on the Lynx team realize what their role is and are all ready to win a championship. Maya Moore come to Minnesota with the mentality to win a championship and that work ethic really helped shaped this team into a title contender. Phoennix Mercury need to find more depth to their team besides their offense because offense wins games, but defense wins championships.

San Antonio Silver Stars 102, Tulsa Shock 92
Danielle Robinson made herself noticed tonight in the Rookie campaign with a career high 36 points leading theSilver Stars to victory. Unfortunately this lost made the Tulsa Shock the most losing team in WNBA history with a record of 3-30, which for anyone would be hard to swallow. Hopefully Tulsa will return next year with a vengeance to win.

Chicago Sky 70, Seattle Storm 81
WNBA veteran Katie Smith and Camille Little lead the Storm with 17 points over the Sky. Sylvia Fowles lead her team with an impressive 30 points and 13 rebounds, but was not enough to beat the defending champs. Sylvia Fowles has had an impressive season averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds, but toward the other half of the season she started getting a little tired playing an average of 34.5 minutes.  It seems that the Sky need more scoring talent to help take all of the stress off Fowles so that they can finally make it to the playoffs

Shabazz Muhammad

A man among boys Shabazz Muhammad is the most prolific scorer in his class. His explosiveness and speed is amazing especially since he is left hand with the ball! Shabazz is compared to Kobe Bryant and James Harden with his style of game. He is considering Kentucky, UCLA, Duke, Louisville, Kansas, Memphis, and Texas A&M. Just take a look for yourself how good he is.

Altanta Dream's lost to the Washington Mystics

The Mystics have been struggling all this season and have only won 5 out of 29 games, but tonight Crystal Langhorne went into over time and had 25 points and 10 rebounds leading the Mystics to an 85-81 win over the Atlanta Dream, the Eastern Conference Champs. Angel McCoughtry lead her team with 30 points, but it wasn't enough to beat the Mystics.

Personal note: I feel that the teams who win championships are the teams that have multiple top 10 players.
For example, the Seattle Storm have players like Lauren Jackson, Sue Bird, and Swin Cash who are all amazing players, together they have won two championships.

The Phoenix Mercury have won two championships with talented players like Diana Taurasi and Cappie Pondexter, but ever since Cappie Pondexter left for the New York Liberty neither have Diana or Cappie have won a championship since then.

The first Dynasty in the WNBA was the Huoston Comets, who won the first four championships with the core group of Sheryl Swoopes, Tina Thompson, and Cynthia Cooper. Those three players are all in the top 15 all time greatest.

The only team that I can think of that won two championship with one key player is the LA Sparks. Lisa Leslie, former all-time scorer, won two championships.

It seems that now the Minnesota Lynx will probably be the next team to win multiple championships with the core group of Maya Moore, Lindsay Whalen, and Seimone Augustus.

WNBA Rookie of the Month

For the month of August, Maya Moore was named rookie of the month for the second month in a row. She averaged 12.3 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.8 spg, and 27.2 mpg. From setting the most records in college basketball history at Uconn, Maya Moore has brought a winning mentality to the Minnesota Lynx making their record 23-6 and leading them to a playoff birth in the Western Conference with the #1 seed. In her last game she scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a win over the San Antonio Sliver Stars. Personally I think Maya Moore is the best all around player because not only can she score from beyond the 3-point arch, but she can get to the rim for the lay up, rebound, steal the ball, and make amazing assist to her teammates.

Basketball's Future

So it does not seem like the NBA Lockout is going to end anytime soon. So most people have either been watching old NBA games, playing NBA2K11, watching Euro Basketball or decided to watch the WNBA. But on Tuesday August 30th Baltimore got a taste of NBA basketball once again when the Goodman League played against the Melo League. The Goodman league had All-Star player Kevin Durant, who had score 66 points in his last game in New York. The Melo league had All-Star players Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Paul, which made this match up very lop sided. Kevin Durant scored a game high 59 points, but unfortunately that was not enough against Lebron James 38 points in a 149-141 loss.  This was an exciting game for any basketball lover, there have been some rumors that there will be another match up in LA coming soon.
